Students Helping Nashville - service learning video

Our Audio For Multimedia (Richfield/Broadview) students produced a viral video last quarter to help aid flood victims in Nashville. Students did all the creative work and the Internet research. You can view the video on our Globe X Stream youTube channel , on our Facebook group "Globe X Stream" facebook , or on this site GXS/Nashville . This was a Service Learning project.

Celebrate Women In Music V.2!

CWIM V.2 - Our second CWIM is in the very early planning stages. Looks like the student/grad team that ran CWIM V.1 will return to spearhead CWIM V.2 in 2011. Working with Sugarfoot Media, the next event will be at multiple venues, many genres and will feature a bigger coalition of women and partners. We would like to do a benefit album and some videos.

CWIM V.1 - Highlights were the AMAZING work done by our students. Credit Jenn Sycks for handling the tickets & having a standing room only crowd for the panel! Leah Preble, Jenn Bodsgard, Emily Manifold, Amanda Charter, Shari Hanson, Britta Puppe, Cecilia Garza & Emily Montonye also helped with some long hours. Our students outsold Ticketmaster for this event FIVE TO ONE!!!! Sue McLean was presented with an honorary B.S. degree by Jeanne Hermann for GUMSB . It was probably the best attended and coolest school event ever held.

Our Richfield/Broadview International PAC includes Grammy and Emmy winners, and top professionals in many facets of the business. Many are at the pinnacle of their professions: Sue McLean (Mpls), Hagnir (Moscow), Pete Himmelman (LA), Dan Mangold (Seattle), Monty Wilkes (in France now w/ Scissors Sisters) and Greg Reirsen (Rareform, Mpls)... and more.

St Cloud students launched a great blog for the cause of "Saving Radio Stations". The B.C. group Red Vinyl Media continues to roll, promoting shows and posting some MB podcasts. We could use more news from all other campuses!

Minnesota Fats and Snoop and Sony

MSB students and Chris Hinding are helping Minnesota Fats (a music biz graduate) launch his new single featuring Snoop Dogg... yes... Snoop! Mitch Hare joined the WEON crew at Famous Dave's for some BBQ and strategy. Fat's last album "Perfect Candidate" was released nationally and hit the 5,000 mark in sales. Fats is negotiating a marketing/distribution deal w/ majors... looks like SONY will get Jason (FATS) next album.This just in.... FATS would like to headline a benefit show! Let's do it!
